What We Do
The Science and Technology Teacher Resource Center (STTRC) is a 1700 sq. ft. facility that has been transformed into a centralized multi-purpose resource center serving science and technology teaching professionals throughout San Diego County. The STTRC was first conceived in response to our staff’s observations of teachers rummaging in conference dumpsters for free classroom materials. This “AH HA” moment led to the birth of what was originally to be the teacher supply recycling and distribution center but is now evolving into a multi-faceted educational resource; one that will both benefit students and teachers and offer opportunities to local businesses and vendors who can make a contribution that would otherwise not be possible.
Science and Technology Teacher Resource Center is an inspirational project of the Space Grant Education & Enterprise Institute (SGEEI) (formerly the California Space Grant Foundation, CSGF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 that creates, facilitates, manages, and integrates K-12, college, university, and life long learning opportunities built around real world space, land, and sea projects.
The Space Grant Education and Enterprise Institute team members focus our energy and passion on K-12 Inspiration, K-12 Standards Based Curriculum, K-12 Teacher Training, Higher Education Student-Mentor Research and Higher Education Student-Mentor Operations programs, partnerships and outreach. We create “skill appropriate learning environments” at all levels using the latest information technologies as well as industry and government mentors. In this way we provide a balance between theory and practical skills meeting industry defined needs for workforce and economic development. With the support of our team members we continue to grow each year.
Volunteer your time to work on one of our Student-Mentor projects or at one of our Centers. We are looking for persons with people and profession skills to make a difference in your community. To volunteer please contact:
Ms. Sharon Freeburn or call

When she grows up, she would like to teach alongside Ms. Frizzle on The Magic School Bus.
K-12 Education Programs and Centers Fund
This Fund provides money to support the Seeding Science Education Enthusiasm, Discovery and Development (SSEEDD) program, our Science and Technology Teacher Workshops, the Science and Technology Teacher Resource Center and for direct support of teachers in their classrooms. These programs often provide scholarships and fellowships to pre-service and graduate school students seeking science and technology teaching careers. Teacher education workshops and other partnerships providing teacher training emphasize proficiency in the sciences, mathematics, engineering and technology. |
