Science talk is a new monthly meeting of San Diego County Elementary Teachers who would like to exchange ideas about content, activities, ... in teaching science.

Science & Technology Teacher Resource Center

A Library and Resource Center for educators to learn about FREE science and technology curriculum materials.

STTRC library

STTRC has established a library of materials including educational software, booklets, posters , and handouts created by government agencies (NASA, EPA), professional societies and commercial companies. Despite these entities best advertising efforts teachers normally do not know where to find these free or low cost resources nor do they have time to seek them out. STTRC has organized these rich resources for teachers to conveniently review and determine which ones would enrich their students’ learning experiences.

STTRC materials

Teachers’ resources are stretched to the limit and many of us have to purchase basic materials, including pencils, paper, and pens, out of our own funds.

Convention items are discarded in San Diego, a mecca for science and technology conventions and conferences, big and small. These events typically have exhibit areas where vendors display products and give away trinkets, most of which are of great value to us as teachers. What vendors don’t use they abandon. Government and commercial offices also discard materials whenever a marketing campaign ends, companies merge, change names or leave behind materials when they move.

Our solution? STTRC volunteers collect, sort, shelve and display these teacher treasures for pickup after school.
